Gleb Kirillov, better know on Instagram as Novocainerascal, hand-poked his palm last month with the lyrics from Nine Inch Nail’s song ‘Hurt’. Palm tattoos are notoriously painful and hand-poke tattoos take time. So Parloir wondered why the fuck Gleb did it. Was he a diehard Nails fan, or perhaps he got overcome by the version the Man In Black, Johnny Cash, released in 2003. It hits the heart like an anvil. Or maybe Gleb was just a crazy fucken Russian. Anyway, with our interest piqued Parloir got Gleb on the phone in Moscow and asked him to explain.
What was your first tattoo?
And then, did your collection come along quickly?
How do you come up with your tattoos?
How do people react to your tattoos?
Who do you want to get tattooed by next?
Any good tattoo stories?
Simon Erl's Spellbinding Bangers
Simon Erl’s interest in the occult and all things dark is evident in his work which is spellbindingly good and lingers like a curse on the subconscious.
The MVL Tattoo Leeds artist – who occasionally also works from Dharma Tattoo in London – learnt the trade in New Zealand and has been inking those with good taste for more than a decade. Branding badass boys and girls with evilness that’s sexy and aggressive and just plain cool.
As a new feature on Parloir we’re asking tattooists and where possible their clients to speak about work that has caught our attention or gone viral.
Late last month Erl posted a picture of a selection of midriff-madness he’d inked on a long-time client.
Some 21,000 people liked it.
The provocative placement probably helped clock-up the likes but sexiness-aside the imagery, placement and execution perfectly illustrated why Erl is killing it.
